ABOUT psychotherapy

  • Psychotherapy is a collaborative journey where we explore your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors to understand how they shape your life and relationships. Together, we will create a safe, confidential space to process challenges, uncover patterns, and work toward healing. My role is to support you as you navigate this transformative process.

  • While both aim to support mental health, counseling is typically short-term and focuses on addressing specific issues or finding immediate solutions. Psychotherapy is a deeper, long-term process that explores underlying patterns, emotional wounds, and the complexities of your psyche for transformative healing and growth.

  • Therapy can be beneficial if you feel stuck, overwhelmed, or want to understand yourself better. You don’t need a crisis to seek therapy; it’s also valuable for personal growth, improving relationships, or navigating life transitions. If you’re curious about how therapy could help you, it may be worth exploring.

  • Not at all. Therapy is not just for addressing struggles; it’s also for growth, exploration, and self-improvement. Many clients seek therapy to deepen their self-awareness, strengthen relationships, or cultivate a more fulfilling life, even when things are going well.

  • The duration of therapy depends on your unique needs and goals. While some clients find resolution in a few months, others see therapy as an ongoing process for self-discovery and personal growth. Together, we’ll regularly evaluate your progress to ensure the process aligns with your goals.

  • Changes through therapy often take time and are a result of consistent effort. You may notice shifts in how you think, feel, or respond to situations, a deeper understanding of yourself, or an improvement in your relationships. Progress can also be subtle, like feeling more resilient or emotionally balanced. We will regularly reflect during our sessions to help track these changes.

  • Everything that we discuss is completely confidential. Legally, there are a few limits to this which will be outlined in the working agreement that you will receive after our initial consultation.

  • Yes, research has shown that online therapy can be as effective as in-person sessions for a range of concerns. It offers flexibility and accessibility while maintaining the same professional standards and therapeutic outcomes as traditional therapy.

  • Therapy isn’t about instant cures or quick fixes. Instead, it equips you with tools, insights, and self-awareness to navigate life’s challenges. While it won’t eliminate every problem, it helps you approach them with greater clarity, resilience, and emotional balance.

  • Your comfort is my priority. Therapy is your space, and you decide what to share and when. If there are topics you’re not ready to discuss, that’s okay. Together, we’ll create a trusting, non-judgmental environment where you can open up at your own pace.

ABOUT me & my practice

  • In our sessions, you can expect a warm, collaborative, and non-judgmental space where your experiences are honoured and explored. Sessions will be tailored to your unique needs, blending evidence-based techniques with a holistic understanding of the mind-body connection.

My approach is rooted in empathy and curiosity, ensuring that you feel simultaneously supported and gently challenged as we navigate your inner world together.

  • The initial consultation is an opportunity for us to get to know each other and explore what brings you to therapy. I’ll ask questions to understand your concerns, goals, and any relevant history, and you’ll have space to share as much or as little as you’re comfortable with. It’s also a chance for you to ask questions about my approach or therapy in general. By the end of the session, we’ll discuss how we might work together and the next steps moving forward.

  • Research suggests that a strong therapeutic relationship is the most important factor to effective therapy. I encourage open communication about how you feel working with me — there is quite literally nothing that matters more. During our initial sessions, notice if you feel safe, understood, and respected. If something doesn’t feel quite right, we can openly discuss it.

I am also happy to support you in finding a therapist who may be a better fit if needed. Your comfort and trust are my top priorities.

  • I am compliant with the ethical code laid down by the American Counseling Association as well as the legal frameworks put forward by the Indian Mental Healthcare Act, 2017 and Indian privacy laws. The specifics will be outlined further in the working agreement that you will receive after the initial consultation.

  • While I often use diagnostic criteria to help guide therapy sessions, diagnoses and labels are not a central part of my work.

Diagnoses can be both helpful and limiting. They provide a framework to understand patterns of symptoms, guide evidence-based treatment, and offer validation by naming experiences. Diagnoses also facilitate communication among professionals and may be required for accessing specialized care. However, they can oversimplify the complexity of a person’s lived experience, risk creating stigma, and reduce someone to a label rather than acknowledging their uniqueness.

My approach emphasizes focusing on you as an individual, rather than being oriented toward a list of symptoms. While I will work with your diagnoses and resulting symptoms, this isn’t the only priority for me in your healing journey.

I also collaborate with clinical psychologists and psychiatrists for clients who are seeking or already have a formal diagnosis and/or are using medication. Together, we will ensure that your care is holistic, personalized, and grounded in a deep understanding of your unique needs.

  • No. Since I’m not a psychiatrist, I cannot legally prescribe psychotropic medication, but I am happy to put you in touch with ethical, well-trained psychiatrists if needed.

  • Currently all sessions take place online. Once you confirm a session, you will receive a Google Calendar invite with an embedded Zoom link.

  • Each session is 60 minutes and typically takes place once a week. The exact frequency can be mutually decided after the initial consultation.

  • If you must cancel a session, it is important that you give me a 24 hour notice so that the time can be used for other clients. If prior notice is not given, full session charges will be applicable barring any unforeseen emergencies. If multiple sessions are cancelled without prior notice, I will no longer be able to hold your slot for you.

  • I work with clients from various cities and towns across India, as well as individuals living abroad (UK, US, etc.). I have worked with people of varying races and ethnicities throughout my training in New York. Wherever you’re located, whatever you identify as, you’re more than welcome here!

If you’re based outside India, please let me know so we can discuss any legal considerations related to providing online psychotherapy internationally.

  • I primarily work with adults (18-50). I currently do not work with children, adolescents, and older individuals. I work with a range of concerns, including but not limited to: anxiety related issues, trauma, individuals with marginalized identities, neurodivergence, interpersonal concerns, etc.

About my feE

  • I charge Rs. 2000 per 60 minute session for individuals residing in India and Rs. 3000 (35 USD) for individuals outside India.

  • The cost of therapy is determined by several factors, including my training, qualifications, experience, as well as the duration and frequency of our sessions.

My specialized expertise in yoga, somatic therapy, and working with trauma and other complex issues influences my fee. Furthermore, I ensure that I don’t take on too high of a caseload so that I can give each of my clients my absolute best. Practical considerations like administrative costs, ongoing professional development, and ethical requirements such as weekly supervision also contribute to my fee. If you have further questions about this, feel free to reach out to me.

  • I accept direct bank transfers, Google Pay, Wise, and Remitly. If these do not work for you, please contact me and we can mutually decide how to proceed.

  • I have limited sliding scale slots available, especially for people from marginalized backgrounds. Please reach out to me if my fee is the only barrier for you and we can try to work something out. If not, I will be happy to refer you to somebody else.
